Interpersonal Communication & Listening Skills

I had an expectation from these sessions and the sessions have over exceeded my expectations. Lots to rethink for me. Very satisfied with the course & looking hopeful to be here again soon.

Interpersonal Communication & Listening Skills

Parivarthan is a truly commendable institution which offers a highly disciplined, scientific and systematic methodology to understand the subject of counselling skills. So happy to have been bestowed the privilege to participate in this course.

Interpersonal Relationship Skills

There was an exercise we did in the LST-2 which asked of us to close our eyes and think of one relationship that had accepted us completely as we were. As for me, I forgot to mention that day, that Parivarthan is one such relationship of mine which has completely accepted me and accommodated me just the way I am.  Thanks to all of you who have designed this program, implemented it and successfully brought this to completion. Knowing that what we did was just the tip of the iceberg, looking forward to diving into greater depths.

Life Skills Training

I am extremely fortunate to have done both LST-1 and LST-2, I am enjoying the process of learning, changing and growing, self-awareness, listening and bettering myself are what I’m being taught to do in both these sessions.

Basic Skills in Counselling (BSIC)

Details

The program is designed for individuals who wish to train to be counsellors and for professionals who wish to acquire counselling skills for use in their work as health professionals, social workers, teachers, HR professionals or administrators.

The BSIC program offers training in counselling skills and an introduction to counselling theories. The program prepares trainees to become counsellors or to develop a counselling role in the setting in which they work, helping them incorporate counselling skills both at the administrative and clinical levels.

It also prepares trainees to refer appropriately and to work cooperatively with other mental health professionals, such as psychologists and psychiatrists.

The program is designed to promote both professional development and personal growth of the trainee counsellor.

The one-year training program, Basic Skills in Counselling, is a professional course and therefore very intensive and offers both Theories and Skills Training in Counselling. Training Sessions are usually held on Friday and Saturday in the 2nd and 4th week of the month from 10 am to 5 pm. However, trainee-counsellors would need to allocate 20 to 25 hours per week to the program in order to complete the other course requirements.

The Life Skills Training program – Module 1, Interpersonal Communication and Listening Skills is a  pre-requisite course for the one-year course, as it helps you to decide if you really are keen to train as a counsellor as well as gives Parivarthan an indication as to your readiness for the counselling training. Attending the Life Skills Course makes you eligible to apply for the Basic Skills in Counselling program. There is a separate admission process for the one-year course.

Basic Skills in Counselling

Today as I have completed my course, I wanted to express my deep love and gratitude to you, Malini, for you to have made Parivarthan accessible for me.
It has been one of my first experiences where an institution has gone all out to accommodate and made way for a person with a disability – it is usually the other way round. You could have said no, but you chose to say yes.
Thank you equally to Vinodh and Satish for all the up and down they had to do to support my course completion. I know I really troubled them 🙂
I feel so blessed and joyous that I could be a part of the Parivarthan family. I hope in the future, this opens doors for more and more people with disabilities to join in and experience the wonder that Parivarthan is.
Thank you once again.

Basic Skills in Counselling

Supervision helped me work on my strengths and what could have done better in my sessions. The Supervisor’s input was helpful to learn and hone my skills as a counsellor. To work with different themes and intervention techniques, to develop my own style and also gave me the confidence to carry out multiple sessions.

Basic Skills in Counselling

Individual counselling was one of the best parts of the course and initially, I didn’t see the way it would help me grow as a person and as a Counsellor. But the year-long counselling sessions have a big part in being a trained counsellor that I was striving to be.

Basic Skills in Counselling

Theoretical inputs, the integrated approach, skills training, practical counselling sessions, supervision, and personal counselling – all contributed to a very rich and well-balanced training program.

This Basic Skills in Couple and Family Counselling is a 70-hour program that will be covered in 10 weekly sessions. The aim of the course is to orient counsellors who have been trained to counsel adults or have been working with adults in a counselling setting, to develop the awareness and skills required for relationship management.

This course focuses on working with a couple/family system as a whole, which can help break dysfunctional and unhealthy family patterns that can be hard to change in an individual counselling setting.

It will cover basic theory, assessment, and management of issues specific to couples and families, including divorce and domestic violence. The focus of the course is on the skills required to evaluate and intervene in the kind of relationship problems that trained counsellors are likely to face in practice.

This course has been designed specifically to meet these different needs and interests in a stimulating and interactive learning environment and is based on a body of knowledge drawn from theory, research and clinical observation.

Child & Adolescent Counselling

Very, very enjoyable & deep learning with activities, sharing, theory, application, practical discussions. Very enriching personally & professionally.

Couple & Family Counselling

Very pleased with the structuring of the training material and the flow with which one topic blended well into the next.

Care for the Care Providers Program (CCP)

Open to NGOs, and Service Professionals

Details

From our experience of working with the staff of various NGOs and professionals in the service industry, we realize that it is important to support these professionals, by providing psycho-education (developmental aspects) with regard to the target populations that they work with, teach skills for improved communication and listening, and more importantly to help them understand and address some of their own personal issues that affect their holistic well-being. This enables them to provide better care and also helps to avoid burnout, which happens quite frequently in these professions.

Some of the Government Organisations / NGOs / Schools where we have conducted this program for their staff/volunteer/community workers are Rishi Valley School, Madanapalle, FAME – India, The Government Observation Homes (Boys & Girls), Action Aid, NCBS Creche, APSA, SATHI, BMST, Dream-a-Dream, Spastics Society of Karnataka Nuns who run Shelter Homes for Girls, School Counsellors from NEPAL, Hindu Balika Patashala, etc.

Dance/Movement

The training structure creating a safe space, experiential, using movement/art, tools, facilitation & feedback with some theory was well done. Keeping it open for the group to share topics they wanted mote inputs on.

Visual Art

It was an awesome experience – 3 days of enrichment and intense learning. I lost track of time and was completely immersed in each and every activity. It was a completely hands-on workshop where you learn by doing. I learned how to delve into myself and use these tools first for myself.

Drama

I am taking back many tools / Better understanding/activities that I can use with my clients. I am more comfortable using role plays with my clients after attending this workshop.

Care for the Care Providers

I had always wanted to do Parivarthan Courses. This was an opportunity that I partly fulfilled that desire. I have learnt many aspects of self, and also about needing to delve deeper.

Care for the Care Providers

Professionally I can use the knowledge and idea which I got here to my workplace. I can change my communication style in my workplace.

Care for the Care Providers

The session has been systematically arranged. First listening and communication session, which is, of course, a most appreciative and appropriative start, I love it, Moreover, I loved the way counsellors use to start the sessions (exercises). It really brings our minds to class. Keep on doing that! Many other training programs don’t have that.
