Details
The program is designed for individuals who wish to train to be counsellors and for professionals who wish to acquire counselling skills for use in their work as health professionals, social workers, teachers, HR professionals or administrators.
The BSIC program offers training in counselling skills and an introduction to counselling theories. The program prepares trainees to become counsellors or to develop a counselling role in the setting in which they work, helping them incorporate counselling skills both at the administrative and clinical levels.
It also prepares trainees to refer appropriately and to work cooperatively with other mental health professionals, such as psychologists and psychiatrists.
The program is designed to promote both professional development and personal growth of the trainee counsellor.
The one-year training program, Basic Skills in Counselling, is a professional course and therefore very intensive and offers both Theories and Skills Training in Counselling. Training Sessions are usually held on Friday and Saturday in the 2nd and 4th week of the month from 10 am to 5 pm. However, trainee-counsellors would need to allocate 20 to 25 hours per week to the program in order to complete the other course requirements.
The Life Skills Training program – Module 1, Interpersonal Communication and Listening Skills is a pre-requisite course for the one-year course, as it helps you to decide if you really are keen to train as a counsellor as well as gives Parivarthan an indication as to your readiness for the counselling training. Attending the Life Skills Course makes you eligible to apply for the Basic Skills in Counselling program. There is a separate admission process for the one-year course.

Care for the Care Providers Program (CCP)
Open to NGOs, and Service Professionals
Details
From our experience of working with the staff of various NGOs and professionals in the service industry, we realize that it is important to support these professionals, by providing psycho-education (developmental aspects) with regard to the target populations that they work with, teach skills for improved communication and listening, and more importantly to help them understand and address some of their own personal issues that affect their holistic well-being. This enables them to provide better care and also helps to avoid burnout, which happens quite frequently in these professions.
Some of the Government Organisations / NGOs / Schools where we have conducted this program for their staff/volunteer/community workers are Rishi Valley School, Madanapalle, FAME – India, The Government Observation Homes (Boys & Girls), Action Aid, NCBS Creche, APSA, SATHI, BMST, Dream-a-Dream, Spastics Society of Karnataka Nuns who run Shelter Homes for Girls, School Counsellors from NEPAL, Hindu Balika Patashala, etc.
